Tejidos Royo's Denim Earns Recycled Content Certification from SCS Global Services

SCS Global Services (SCS) announced that it has certified the recycled content in denim cotton fabric manufactured by Spanish textile manufacturer, Tejidos Royo S.L. This certification confirms that Tejidos Royo’s 7708 CRUDO denim cotton contains at least 18% pre-consumer recycled denim cotton. The company recycled more than 9 metric tons of denim in 2012 alone, equivalent to about 20,000 pairs of denim blue jeans.

"With the explosive growth in the popularity of denim cotton around the globe, the use of recycled cotton is increasingly important as a means of preserving natural resources and reducing landfill wastes,” said Stowe Beam, SCS Managing Director of Environmental Certification Services.

As reported in publications such as Textile World, the environmental benefits gained from using recycled raw materials rather than virgin materials extend beyond the reduction of landfill wastes to include conservation of natural resources, reduced energy consumption, and reduced greenhouse gases and other emissions.
